Experiment skewed

December 30, 2008

Granted, I am beginning these pieces to re acquaint my skills and perceptions with fibers, binding and intermingling.  I I acquired this roving via second hand and assumed the giver was knowledgeable of the fiber content  thus I did not conduct a burn test. There is a slight chance the cool gray roving has non-wool  component with nanofibers on the market, it may not even be detected with a burn test.  My goal was to achieve a lacy effect so the under layers would peek up through and maybe even pierce the surface.  I predicted  it would be lose and lace-like but it would adhere irregularly.  I did not expect it to shift and bunch up into cords. I am perplexed by this outcome so another piece is forthcoming.
